Last year, Ramsey County suffered 72 opioid overdoses. In comparison, Hennepin County, which is more than double the size of Ramsey County, suffered 162. These are record numbers and are devastating. To combat this crisis, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, County Attorney’s Office, Local Law Enforcement, Schools, the Know the Truth Prevention Program and other local organizations have all come together to facilitate a community education forum. This event is focused on building awareness of the local drug trends, specifically the opioid crisis – the goal is to bring the community together to learn ways to communicate with individuals who are struggling with substance use, and to develop tools to keep loved ones safe from the devastation that addiction can cause to a family and community.
If you know someone who may be struggling with substance use, please come and get connected to resources – if not please come and develop tools to help you keep it that way.
Join us this spring for not one, but TWO free community forums held in Ramsey County! The cost of addiction is devastating for Ramsey County and protecting our youth is where we need to start in this fight against addiction.
